Edamame are Soy beans
Edamame are young and green soy beans that are soft. It literally means beans on a branch. eda = branch mame= beans
It is definitely growing more popular in the west but it has been around for more than 2000 years. Edamame are an excellent source of plant-based protein and fibre.
It is often used as a snack or appetiser but also makes a wonderful ingredient to many main dishes.
So’s edamame are boiled to retain a lovely slight crunch and seasoned with Maldon sea salt. Edamame have so much flavour we don’t want to over-dress. But sometimes, on festive occasions, we spice it up and make a garlic and peppery version. Wonderfully sticky and very tasty!
